Last week I turned 26…

After a very interesting short 25!

Have to admit, my 25 was rock and rolling-roller coaster-ups and downs-ziggidizagg mofo!

Crazyness thats for sure. When I turned 25 last year, one of my resolution was to cut my drinking, Man it was even worse, after couple of months i gained 25, i broke with my ex-girlfriend, i know im not suppose to talk about this anymore, but dude… this is a reminiscing time! Ow by the way she’s doing real great now, she’s getting married next year, much happy for her and Nicko. (her cool boyfriend, no really he’s a cool and nice guy).

Lost couple of family member, my who always bought me rock and roll tshirts when i was junior high, hitted by a train, that was super surreal dude. Lost my maid, who took good care of my family since i was high school. But dude, look what i got for return!! I got a cute niece from my older brother! Uh huuhh!!! Crystal is so cute!

Lost 3 of Freesouls’ members, cuz they just want to focus on their own dreams, Yacko, Johndoe, and Oxbanx was out of the Freesouls picture, much respect and honor for what you guys did to us. So now we are still on full throttle with me, Heru, Schizo, and Radd.

I also cutted my DJing gig so I can focus on lots of stuffs, like running Freesouls itself, start focusing on music production, ’cause this was my real passion I guess, DJing is only a bonus track for me. Big respect for Boim Ghetto, DJ Ethnic, DJ Cream, who actually make a living from DJing, that is just so hard for me.

But not everything went downhill on my 25, lots and lots and lots of new interesting people I met, they were just unique characters, it’s just so different from the others. Some are badd asses, some does have really nice asses, my girlfriend is one of those who has really hot nice ass =).

She was my junior, when I was in highschool, she dated my classmate back then. Funny how life keeps going in a circle. As Im writing now, she’s preparing for her next phase of life, she’s leaving her hometown off to dubai to work at Emirates Air as a cabin crew, interesting huh.

Met this kid named Lloyd Popp, he’s an interesting character, I really want to develop his talent really. Maybe I can take him somewhere where he’s been dreaming. Catching my own dreams is one thing, but helping a friend catching his dream, that is just way different feeling!

A yeahhh, finally i had a tattoo, is not done yet, work in progress ladies and gentlemen, It’s a flaming fire in my left hand (Im officially DJ Flame now). My man Sonny did it, he’s really great doing oriental style. Still have couple more of hours to go, maybe 3 to 4, back arm tattoo hurts like hell.

Oh yeaah I have my first niece from my older brother, She’s just the cutest!

Freesouls doin awesome, finally had a deal with Universal earlier this year, we did 4 major events, Janet Jackson’s & Mary J Blige album launch, 50 Cent & Akon’s preparty, Our DJ Schizo’s Invasion launch, and Soulnation’s preparty.

Dude basicly on 25 I learnt my life the most, loads of stuff happened in a year, I never had this kinda hassle before, lots of downs and lots of ups. I learned how to use these 2 words in my life… it’s

Terakhir denger Nelly seinget gw dia rapper yang agak menye-menye manja gitu deh, apalagi ngerapnya tentang cinta-cintaan gitu. Padahal lagu-lagu dia kaya E.I, Number One, Ride with Me, Grillz, Hot in Here, Err Time lebih canggih dibanding Dillema, Wudsyaname dan lagu2 cengeng nya dia.

Eeeh begitu gw liat video klipnya Party People dari album terakhir nya Brass Knuckle, kok jadi ganas lagi nih orang, mana Fergie nya juga sexy abisss. Langsung aja gw dengerin satu albumnya, asli man! Ganas to the bone yo! Porsi lagu party nya lebih banyak dibanding lagu “menye-menye” nya. Apalagi “L.A.” yang featuring Snoop Dogg, aduuuh keren abis juooo!!! “Body on me” juga seru tuh, soalnya bareng Akon dan Ashanti. Yang agak mengejutkan sih kok bisa tiba-tiba ada Chuck D nya Public Enemy di lagu ”Self Esteem” yah?

Duh duh duh asli keren banget nih satu album, jadi pengen cepet2 muterin di club. This album is one of the bangers in the year of 2008, must have for bumpin in the club or even in car.

Danja, pertama ketemu Timbaland di Music Conference beberapa tahun lalu,
di sebuah konferensi musik. Dengan kesempatan itu, dia langsung memberikan
beat-demo nya ke Timbaland.

Tidak ada panggilan selama beberapa saat dari Timbaland,
Dia tetap melanjutkan dayjob nya sebagai “building contractor”
“I never too tired working at my studio after working my 9 to 5 job as
building contractor.”

Beberapa tahun setelah itu dia dapat panggilan dari Timbaland,
untuk pergi ke Miami, untuk bekerja satu lagu. Kayanya sih Timbaland suka
kerja sama ni orang, akhirnya dia disuruh pindah ke Miami supaya bisa
kerja full time buat Timbaland as his protege…MAN LUCKY BASTARD!!!

Kenapa gw suka Danja?
Dari segi teknis, Danja hanya memakai laptop untuk membuat musik,

Gw kira “In Search Of…” adalah album terbaik N*E*R*D,
karena gw personal gak begitu suka album “Fly or Die”
apalagi waktu mereka memutuskan merekam kembali album yang sudah keluar
dipasaran dengan instrument full band dengan berjudul “In Search of … Band”.

Siapa sih yang gak langsung cari skinny jeans, topi trucker, dan kaos ukuran S,
waktu liat video klip nya “Rockstar” debut N*E*R*D.
Memang duet Neptunes Pharell Williams dan Chad Hugo ditambah dengan rapper Shae,
selalu jadi trendsetter.

Pharell Williams dan Chad Hugo sempet ilang sebentar,
Pharell sibuk dengan bisnis-bisnis lain seperti Bathing Ape nya,
sementara Chad Hugo sibuk membuat lagu buat artis-artis pop lainnya seperti Ashlee Simpson salah satunya.

Tau-tau gw denger lagu ini di radio, aahhh gila gw langsung tau itu suara khas “hiphop-punk-ish” nya N*E*R*D.
Man gw gak denger apa2 tentang mereka kok tiba-tiba ada single baru yah.

Beberapa hari setelah itu, gw di telpon Aldo Sianturi, of Universal Music Indonesia.
“Bro, gw bakal kirim lu album Seeing Sounds nya N*E*R*D, karena mereka udah di label gw sekarang”.
Gila man, gayung pun bersambut, begitu gw dapet kiriman CD itu, langsung gw pasang…

Aaaah gwuoookiiiilll!!! Lagu-lagunya sadis semua, sangat beda dari kedua album sebelumnya.
Kali ini mereka sepertinya agak terinfluens oleh old-school jungle style,
sama simple raw synth sound. Hmmmm wussup with synth in hiphop nowadays,
even the last Roots album using crazy amount of synth.

Anyways, gw kira cuma ada beberapa lagu favorit gw di album ini,
ternyata abis dengerin selama beberapa minggu…
This album grew on me. I like every single song on this album.
A definetly must have album for the open minded people!

Ini bukan dari album Seeing Sound, tapi single khusus buat Converse.

Okay here are the pics.

Sekitar 3 bulan lalu pada jam 8 malam telpon berbunyi, ternyata DJ Schizo. “Hey Flame! Project mixtape gw sama Universal on, gw butuh studio time yah sekitar seminggu, nanti gw email tracklistnya, trus gw brief mau gw kaya gimana”. Sebagai DJ resident di club ternama Equinox, DJ Schizo adalah salah satu DJ yang selalu mendorong batas-batas kreatifitas sebagai seorang DJ. Coba dateng deh ke Equinox hari kamis – sabtu hari dimana dia bertugas, kalian pasti akan mendengar perbedaan sewaktu DJ Schizo bermain.

Beberapa hari setelah percakapan di telepon itu, DJ Schizo datang ke studio. “Okeh jek gw mau bikin mixtape yang orang bisa denger kapan aja, di mobil kalo pagi, siang siang dikantor, sore kalo pulang kuliah, atau sebagai warming up sebelum weekend party.” Begitulah briefnya.

Sebelum nyentuh turntables, gw liat dia ngacak playlistnya selama berhari2. Mungkin ada 10 revisi tracklist kali yah, Untungnya pihak Universal Music selalu memberi license akan lagu yang akan digunakan.

Akhirnya tracklist di approve oleh Schizo sendiri dan Universal. Timbaland, Ne-Yo, Will I Am, Mary J Blige, dan banyak lagi. Hari ke 3 akhirnya dia mulai menyentuh turntable dan laptop Serato Scratch Live nya. “Kayanya gw gak mau overtechnical deh, scratch kebanyakan kadang bisa bikin pusing yang denger, gw tetep mau mixtape ini easy listening.” Makanya kalo dengerin Invasion scratch nya tidak terlalu complicated, tapi tetap dinamis. Setiap hari dalam seminggu dia dateng dari jam 3 sore di depan turntable sampe jam 5 pagi, kecuali kalau dia harus ke Equinox untuk bertugas. Gw sendiri gak kuat nemenin, jadi selalu gw tinggal tidur. Lalu setiap bangun pagi, gw selalu cek hasil rekamannya semalem bermaksud untuk mengedit-edit.

Tapi selalu aja terkejut, karena nyaris nggak ada yang perlu di edit. Plus kreatifitas mixing nya luarbiasa. Scratch drop-ins, mixing in key, blend-mix…. Ck ck ck…Gak bakal ada DJ mix secanggih INVASION, yakin gw!!!

Udah beberapa hari ini INVASION selalu ada di mobil gw, cd player rumah gw, sampe ke tracklist iphone gw. Maaan… gw gak bosen2 dengerin nya. Puaaasss abeeezzzzz. Kalian wajib beli INVASION, kalo pengen tau, what really makes a good Hiphop & RnB mixtape!!!!
